3D Shapes
Today in maths we have been learning all about 3D shapes. We have been learning shape names of a:
- cone
- square-based pyramid
- Triangular-based pyramid
- Triangular prism
- Hexagonal prism
- sphere
- cube
- cuboid
We have also been learning what edges, vertices and faces are. To help us we have made 3D shapes out of nets.
African Instruments
This week, as part of our Africa topic, Year 2 researched and heard a wide variety of African Instruments and music. After we had researched them, we tried to draw them. To make our detailed pencil drawings stand out we went around the outside with a coloured pencil. We hope you enjoy this short video of our work.
The Equator
Year 2 were discovering what the equator is today. We coloured countries according to average temperatures and found a pattern. Cooler countries were together, and so were the hotter ones. We discussed what this meant and found out that there is a line round the Earth called the equator. We learnt why countries nearer the equator are hotter.
Making Calendars
Year two have been blow painting trees and making calendars using the four seasons as inspiration.
